So after thinking all day and being bummed about not knowing the gender of the baby for another MONTH, I had an epiphany....I remembered the lady at the Specialist said that the level 2 US needed to be done between 18-20 wks and she said their machinery is higher tech than regular OBs'. The specialist and the OB always ask me where I prefer to do each procedure. And since my OB won't schedule me until 20wks, I called and got the specialist to do the level 2 ultrasound at 18 weeks, so I just won't have an US at 20 wks now, just do the regular check up stuff. So YAY I don't have to wait antoher month! March 10th is the day, of course if the baby cooperates!
So people who have babies....what is this stuff I gotta drink at 20 weeks? And can I not eat before my apt that day? They didn't really go into detail with me.

It is like flat flavored soda. I got orange, but I hear there is clear and red too.
My doctor didn't do details either - I just scheduled the earliest appt. possible because I've heard not to eat and that you could...
I would descibe it as really sweet gatoraid. I mean, really sweet. Every doctor is differend, but mine had me NOT eat before. It actually helped me beacuse I was so hungery that ANYTHING tasted good.
I too suggest the earliests appt possible. We will pray it is good becuase you do NOT want to have to do the 4 hr test! I did with Carys but not Sawyer!
Best of Luck!!

The orange or red flavor are the better choices. I could not eat after midnight the night before my test. I did work that night and ate right before midnight. I failed my test. So I would eat a bland dinner and actually, not eat after 8pm. The four hour test sucks. You have to drink double the amount and get your blood drawn every hour. Early appointments for this test is better.
My doctor told me not to eat so I didn't. My friend's doctor told her it was ok to eat THEN she "failed" and had to do the longer test. At that test the lab tech asked her if she had eaten before the first one. When my friend told her she had the lab tech said she wished they didn't tell people it was ok to eat. It tasted like flat sunkist. I also tried not to eat anything sweet a few days before. I mean like unhealthy junk.
I didn't eat after supper the night before (no snacking!) and didn't eat before the appt (it was a 8 am, so it wasn't THAT bad). I had the red drink...It was like Hawaiian punch w/ WAAAAY too much sugar!! After you drink it, you wait an hour, and they check your blood...I passed mine, thank goodness!!!
